Grinding and polishing of zirconia ceramics

Dec 08, 2020

The grinding and polishing of zirconia ceramics is a super finishing method, which uses free abrasives to produce a fine screening effect on the surface materials to be processed, so as to achieve the processing effect. In the ultra-finishing and finishing of ceramic materials, especially in the precision processing of ceramic balls for ceramic bearings, grinding and polishing have an irreplaceable position.

Optical glass materials, sapphire, and other optical materials, silicon wafers, GaAs substrates, and other semiconductor materials, zirconia ceramics, alumina ceramics, and other ceramic materials mostly adopt mirror grinding and polishing processing methods. The maintenance workers of the auxiliary nozzle of the air-jet loom need to deal with the daily maintenance of the electric oil pump, the centralized oil supply, the heat dissipation part of the main motor, the input shaft of the open cam box, the electromagnetic brake, the weft detector, the scissors, the selvage, the temple, and the edge capture.

From the point of view of the material screening mechanism, the grinding process is a processing method between the brittle failure and elastic removal of zirconia ceramics, while the polishing process is basically carried out within the elastic removal range of zirconia ceramics.

Grinding and polishing are usually only used in the final process of ultra-finishing zirconia ceramics because the removal of zirconia ceramic materials is small and the processing efficiency is low.

The removal rate of the zirconia ceramic material processed by grinding and polishing has a greater relationship with the toughness of the added zirconia ceramic material. The higher the toughness of zirconia ceramics, the lower the processing efficiency of zirconia ceramics
